Rogério Alves was the guest of podcast 'The Devil's Advocate', released on the 5th, commenting that the appointment of Rita Júdice as Minister of Justice was”an unexpected choice, but one that generates an expectation, and you must be given the benefit of the doubt”.
Urged to this end, he mentioned the problems of the Justice portfolio, which the Minister of Justice inherits: the debate surrounding corruption and the fight against crime, but also the demands of the various justice professionals, the bureaucracy and the”Labyrinthine circuits” of the legislation.
He stressed that the Minister of Justice must communicate effectively and clearly with citizens, namely informing them of the measures she intends to adopt to produce results that improve the current state of affairs.
He underlined the idea that the Minister of Justice must gain political weight in the Government, in order to guarantee the proper functioning of the system.
He drew attention to the fact that the fight against corruption should not work as an absorbing element, leaving out all other matters in need of treatment.
Regarding the Attorney General of the Republic, he noted the advantage of choosing a consensual and prestigious figure, for the sake of democracy and the rule of law.
